The Fresno State softball team wins another WAC title; tournament starts Wednesday

Fresno State and Nevada are the softball regular-season co-champions, as both teams finished WAC play with identical 15-5 records. This is the 10th WAC title for the Bulldogs and second in a row for the Wolf Pack.
Fresno State is the No. 1 seed in the WAC Tournament by virtue of a 2-1 record vs. Nevada. The tournament, which will be held at Bulldog Diamond beginning Wednesday, May 6, is a seven-team double-elimination bracket.
Fresno State has a bye in the first round and won’t play until Thursday at 10 a.m. Second-seeded Nevada will play No. 5 New Mexico State on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
The tournament opens at 2 p.m. Wednesday with No. 6 San Jose State playing seventh=seeded Boise State, a team in its first season of competition. Fresno State will play the winner of that game.
Third-seeded Hawai‘i faces No. 4 Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the other first-round game.
