PORTERVILLE – The Warriors Cage returned to Eagle Mountain Casino with their fourth installment: “Trauma.”

Valley favorite Jason “The Livewire” Von Flue took on Marcus Gaines in the main event.

The fighters touched gloves at the beginning of the fight, showing mutual respect. Von Flue (14-11-1) was cut early from Gaines’ (5-8) punching accuracy. Von Flue tried to bring him to the ground but it wasn’t working as Gaines was punching Von Flue from top guard.

Von Flue would attempt a kneebar, but Gaines’ effective striking didn’t allow Von Flue to take him down or finish a submission.

In the second round, both fighters came out with heads of steam. Von Flue shoots for a takedown but comes up empty handed. Gaines, still avoiding Von Flue’s grappling, striking him while he is on his back. Gaines lands a solid shot to Von Flue’s stomach and taps out after the punch.

Gaines wins by tap out in the second round. “He hits like a mule, I thought I had him at one-point with that kneebar,” said the Kerman native Von Flue. “I couldn’t see out of my left eye. I just couldn’t see him.”

“I didn’t underestimate him. I was really nervous for a long time about this fight” said Von Flue, who suffered multiple fractures on his orbital socket and nose.

Gaines would not only take the victory over Von Flue but also the entrance of the night coming out sporting a Hannibal Lecter mask.

Another popular valley fighter was in action as well. Pure Combat Middleweight Champion Jaime Jara (21-7) took on Reggie Orr. Jara was primed for a win after his recent loss to Doug Marshall in May.

Both fighters were exchanging knees and punches until Orr (8-6) would score a takedown but he was caught in a guillotine choke. After struggling, Jara submitted Orr at 2:52 of the first round.
